Our employees make Proto Lase a diverse and unique place to work. We are fortunate to have fantastic people with various backgrounds and personalities who are passionate about their work. Jamie Linn is among the many employees with a deeply-rooted passion for his field and line of work.
Deciding which industry to build a career in can be difficult, but for Jamie, the decision came easy, as working with medical devices was a perfect fit. "The medical field is great because I get to work on products that improve people's lives.' Knowing that the devices he works on would make a positive impact in the lives of others is what keeps him motivated day after day.
Since joining in January 2022, Jamie Linn has brought his very best to our team as Quality Manager. Recently, he received a promotion to Director of Engineering and Development. As always, new roles come with new responsibilities, but Jamie was prepared to face the unknown aspects of his new position and take on the challenges. His fifteen years of medical device and ten years of automotive experience largely equipped him for his new endeavor.
Whether conducting a feasibility analysis on potential products, troubleshooting to resolve current issues, or putting out fires, he is excited to tackle whatever his workday brings his way. "Problem-solving and continuous improvement is what I enjoy and has been a large part of my career." His dedication to continuously improving our processes is unquestionable and demonstrated by his hard work to ensure we maintain our ISO 13485 compliance.
However, if you asked Jamie, what the most rewarding aspect of his new role as Director of Engineering is, he will tell you that mentoring fellow Proto Lase colleagues and empowering them to be the best at their roles is what he enjoys the most.
But before joining our team, Jamie spent a decade at LISI Medical Remmele, headquartered in Big Lake, Minnesota. As a Sr. Quality Engineer, he was tasked with developing and maintaining the manufacturing and quality plans for medical devices used in the endoscopy, laparoscopy, drug infusion, dental, orthopedic, and spinal implant markets. Although he loved his job, he felt the time came for him to find a company with a culture that suits him better.
"I chose to move to Proto Lase because of the work environment. Everyone is truly on the same team, and teamwork is valued," says Jamie, reflecting on his initial motivations for making a career move. Since he arrived at our organization, his appreciation for our tight-knit culture has continued to grow. "What I enjoy most about working at Proto Lase is that we work hard but have fun doing it. The group truly works as a team, and everyone is willing to help out where needed. Everyone is open to change and making this better."
Jamie has lived in Minnesota his entire life - besides a few years, he spent away while in college. Growing up in southern Minnesota allowed him to develop an appreciation for all the beauty the state offers. Although living in the Metro Area for the last fifteen years has many benefits, in his free time he enjoys traveling, exploring new destinations, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his wife, three children, and three grandchildren.
